No Service after Unlocking Smart Ultra 6

Hey everybody,

I have bought a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 (locked) during my stay in the UK. For the time of my stay I have used a Lebara Sim-Card (which runs on Vodafone as far as I know), which was for more than half a year.

I have now returned to Switzerland and I unlocked my phone using a Unlock Code I purchased online. The unlock seems to have worked since it does not ask me to provide a code when putting in my new SIM. I have now made a new subscription with a Swiss provider (SALT), however, the phone has no signal. I have tried the sim in another phone and it works there, so the problem does not lie with the provider. I have turned the phone off and on multiple times, I have even factory reset it and the problem is still there.

I would very much appreciate your help since I am very happy with my Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 and I'd hate to purchase another phone.

The one thing I can think of is that there can be issues when a phone that's been released for one market. In this case the U.K is used / imported to another country to use.

It works perfectly well though using another Swiss Provider. So it cannot really be that right? Or do you think these issues might depend on the provider itself and not the country it is used in?

The weirdest thing is that everytime I put in the code for the SALT Sim Card the provider flashes up for about half a second and then changes to No Service - Emergency only...

I can only speak from past conversations I've read or been involved in.

Particularly in connection to when a person for example imports a phone from outside the Uk that wax released for another market.

It's specs look good and shows that it's frequencies and bands are supported by the Uk network.

However on Reciept of the phone and trying it on the Uk network it can be either that is does not work or not all the features work.

Now Networks can support different frequencies and bands which is why sometimes the experience can differ.

@kvitrafn Well, we've narrowed things down quite a lot.   I'd suggest approaching SALT now.   They'll initially tell you they don't know anything about Vodafone devices, I'm sure, but the question at the heart of it is whether they have trouble connecting to specific devices.   You could also ask an independent dealer/repairer, who'd be more likely to address the core issue.

Also, have you tried the phone in different areas?   It's just possible it's a local mast issue, though I do also thing this is a slightly long shot, especially if you can get the SIM working in another device.   And, of course, a replacement SIM might be worth trying (if you haven't already).
