Hi
I have bought a Sure Signal and am unable to get it to work with my home setup which is:
- Airport Extreme connecting to a fibre infinity connection over PPPOE (fibre does not use PPPOA)
- Airport Extreme with all ports delated in other forwarded to SS
- Internet connection with 80mb download / 15mb upload
I am getting a solid red light even though box is registered and left connected (with multiple reboots) over 3 days.
So, before I return it, is there official support for the Airport Extreme over PPPOE or does this fall into an ever growning crack of sot supported?
I have followed all the other tips etc with no success
Cheers
Drew

Sorry not to be much help, but I recall there being other threads realting to BT Infinity and SS not working well together.
Take a look down the suresignal forum titles, and I'm sure there may be helpful (or not so) info on how to get it working agian

My sure signal works perfectly with BT Infinity, in my case using a BT Homehub.

Your VSS plugs in to an Ethernet port on your router. Whatever protocol the modem side of the router connects with - PPPoE or PPPoA - is irrelevant.

There are many people unable to get the SS to work with the Airport Extreme and it seems that there are additional requirements over that of a basoc connection.
Vodafone, is there any additional feedback on my issue including the traceroute I have shown above?
Cheers

The only issue with routers is which ports and protocols need to be open - and in some cases which host addresses need to be enabled - in order for the VSS to communicate with Vodafone's backend systems.
The easy way to sidestep the issue is to place the VSS into the DMZ. I believe that the Apple Airport Extreme uses different terminology, so you need to nominate the VSS as the 'default host' (which achieves the same thing.
Google should help to find information on how to do this.

Have tried this, SS in DMZ zone (verified) and unfortunately 24 hours later no connection.
Vodafone, do you have a support ticketing system I should use for this?

Hi there drewgriffiths19,
So far there doesn't appear to be a problem with your trace route.
Everything checks out as far as I can tell.
Could you have a look at this thread and let me know if it resolves the query?
If not, please post the requested information below and we'll look into the issue for you.
Your speed test results from here.
Your ping test results from here.
Your external IP address from here.
The results of a traceroute.

Hi there
Thankd for the respose. Re your questions:
1) The thread talks about PPPoA - I have fibre to cabinet (Infinity) which is PPPoE - Therefore this thread doesnt really help. It even says PPPoE doesnt work with the SS buth there are other threads to say this should not be a problem.
2) Speed Text Results: Down: 73.8Mbs (Up): 16.28Mbs
3) Ping: 6ms
