Pay as you Go sim in Netbook?

I recently bought a second hand acer aspire D260 Netbook which can use 3g, can i just use a pay as you go sim card in this to use the internet or do i need a contract?

You can use a pay or contract sim. You will need to change the apn to suit which u are using though. A payg normal phone sim would work out expensive for data, so I'd try and get a mobile broadband sim.
