I'm not sure how much I can help with this, but since you've had no other replies, I'll chip in anyway.

Can I ask why you think this is connected with the PIN2 code?  I have heard of them but never bumped into one in the wild and it's not something that's set up by default as far as I'm aware and I've also never seen the option to set or change it.  As far as I can see, it relates to certain SIM operations and shouldn't affect incoming calls.  The default seems to be generally 0000.

It's an odd problem and, if you can, I'd suggest taking the phone into a Vodafone shop in case they can see something obvious that you need to do.  It shouldn't be necessary to do anything to be able to receive calls and the fact that you can make them suggests that everything's correct and the SIM is properly activated.  It might simply that you have a faulty SIM and the shop can swap it for you to check that.   You could also check the mobile number by dialling *#100# - obvious, I know, but worth a check anyway.

thanks for the reply,  we had a long conversation with Vodafone yesterday after a long wait and the woman said that it would be working between 30 mins later and 24 hours later,  surprise its not working 24 hours later. the reason I ask about the pin2 is that on the downloaded instructions it does say that this could be a problem on the " fixed dialling numbers" whatever that is, as that is the only wordds that i cannot highlight to change.  do you think that could be the problem ? if so any thoughts on how to change it ?

any further thoughts are gratefully appreciated,

i did *#100#  number is correct.

thanks again

As far as I remember, fixed dialling numbers relates to a list of numbers you can restrict the phone to.  I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the present issue - to the extent that headgear may have to be consumed if I'm wrong.

I don't know what the person you spoke to did that led to the suggestion that it should start working (that's just a stament of fact, not an implied criticism), but clearly it was something.  However, I think the next step would be a replacement SIM.  It's the obvious thing and, if it doesn't fix it, it's beginning to look like an account-level issue.   It's certainly an odd one, so let's keep our fingers crossed!
