The idea behind the My Device section of the website is designed so that you can store the info about your device. It doesn't feed through to anything so you can select any device you like. Hopefully you will know phone you have bought! Just use it to store your IMEI number.
I believe that there is a migration to a new system and that some work will be done on the My Vodafone site. Whether the My Device section will be updated at the same time is yet to be seen. But this isn't going to happen overnight.
