I'm in Ealing and joined Vodafone on a 12 month sim only contract. I have pound the phone signal to be very patchy during the day, never staeady, and usually only 1 or 2 bars. Occasionally it will go to 4 bars, but not for very long. I have tested my 4G speeds, again the results are very disappointing, usually in the range of 1 - 3 Mb, and occaionally touching 5Mb.
I have checked my APN settings, even tried to get settings ay texting WEB to 40127 without receiving any message in return. According to the coverage checker I should have full 4G cover, so cannot understand the reason for the patchy signal and low download and upload speeds.
Would appreciate any suggestions to fix any cause that I might have overlooked. Failing that I think I'll have to say goodbye to Vodafone as I'm still within the first 30 days of my contract...

Hi,
I appreciate how frustrating it is when signal fails, fringe coverage or intermittent connection presents issues.
Can I ask the following set of questions
Can you turn off 4G in the phones settings usually found in the Mobile Data section and then turn it back on.
If you turn off 4G what's the experience like on 3G ?
Have you Zoomed out on the map in that mast Checker to see if any local masts are at issue ?
Does 4G show in your phones status bar and remain there i.e. Not dropping to 3G or below etc ?
Can you test your SIM card in another known to be working phone with 4G.
Can you try another known to be working ok SIM card in your own phone as a process of elimination.
Any Vodafone Highstreet Store can replace the SIM via a Sim Swap if it turns out it's the SIM card possibly at issue.
Does 4G work ok while commuting away from your home and surrounding area ?
Mast congestion can affect masts depending on how many people are accessing that particular mast at any one time.
If a phone isn't supported by the shortcode system then sending the WEB text wouldn't yield results.
However this his is the device guide here > Set-up-your-phone-for-internet.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've tried all sorts of settings without getting a steady signal. The signal is constantly moving from 1 bar to 2 or 3 (sometimes 4) and often to no signal. I can't understand why the signal is never steady. For example the sim status at the moment says -111 dBm 33 asu. Just incase I've still got a setting that might be incorrect, I would be grateful if you could peruse my settings below and let me know if they are okay. thnaks in advance.
