Hi,
Is it possible to block a 3G USB modem (K4510, HSPA + USB stick) in 2G/GPRS only mode?
If yes, how?
Is it through Vodafone Mobile Broadband software or Vodafone Moble Connect Software?$
I guess it should be quite simple, but can't manage to find out how to do it!
Thanks in advance for your help.
KR.

Yes it is possible to set the device to 2G only.
This is indeed done via the Vodafone Mobile Broadband (10.X.X) or Vodafoen Mobile Connect (9.X.X) software. Here's how:
Vodafone Mobile Broadband (10.X.X)
- Open VMB
- Switch to advanced mode
- Click on the Devices tab (at the very top)
- Highlight the device in use from the list of devices
- Click on the Bearer Icon in the Hardware section (near the top)
- Select GPRS Only from the drop down menu that appears
Vodafone Mobile COnnect (9.X.X)
- Open VMC
- Click on manage devices
- Highlight the device in use
- Click the edit button
- Select GPRS/EDGE Only
- Click OK
This can also be donw with AT commands, however these are proprietary to the device and/or modem manufacturer.
Just to let you know EDGE and GPRS are both 2G technologies. EDGE is enhanced GPRS, so faster, but uses the same bearer on the mobile network.
I hope this helps.
