I'm thinking about getting the new S7 offline direct from samsung and then go on a sim only plan, as this works out cheaper overall.

Is it true that when buying from a provider like Vodafone that software updates are tested by the provider and have unique features.

If i buy from samsung software updates will not be unique to vodafone and i could miss out on special vodafone features.

Just trying to save money☺

Hi, Vodafone branded phones do have some extras included (some call it bloatware and don't like it) I think a lot of the extras these days can be downloaded from the play store.
The only thing you may have a problem with could be Vodafone wallet/smart pass for NFC payment using your phone, as at the minute you need to have a Vodafone branded handset for this to work.

Being a branded set can have advantages and disadvantages, it's up to you to decide what way you want to go. Most of my handsets have been branded and I have had no problems.

Thanks for that

I do use the smart pass / wallet but Samsung are bringing Samsung pay this year.  Can you think of any other features i could lose?

Just done my sums and with 12 agreement buying off line and going sim only  i save £130

Hi,

It's possible youd loos Wifi Calling..?

I Know with the S6 & S6Edge if you have a VOdafone Supplied Phone your able to use Wifi Calling.

But are unable with sim free phones.

I'm guessing the S7/S7Edge will be the same?

Just a thought.

I can't think of anything that is a must that comes only on Vodafone, another advantage buying from Samsung is it will not be locked to one network so you can easily use a sim from another network.
