R216 wifi diconnecting constantly

I have an R216 mobile wifi dongle, which I use with my Windows 8.1 laptop. If I use it plugged in via the USB cable it works perfectly, however if I use it via Wifi, the Wifi connection drops constantly - about every 5-10 minutes.

The only solution is to disconnect and reconnect the wifi, and then go through the whole procedure again 5 mins later.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour and know what can be done about it? Is it the R216 or Windows?

Hi Ternaminto, welcome to the forums

It could be interference from other wifi systems getting in the way.

If you log into the web page for the R216, default is 192.168.0.1, 'admin' is the password for the advanced settings.

There should be an area in the wifi setup to say what Channel the wifi is running on.

If set to Auto, change it to 1 for a start, although you may need to change it to something else if things do not improve.

If it's set to a number increase or decrease by 5 or 6 and save the settings.

Disconnect/Reconnect to WiFi and see if it's any more stable
