Ras 720 Error

A friend bought a Tosh L450D a month ago with Win7, together with a dongle, all went fine for 2 weeks, then it would not connect.

Following the instructions, I have removed and re installed, but I am still getting the RAS 720 error. Customer services suggested a new dongle, which made no difference. Looking at network devices, only the 3G shows up, the device manager has a yellow mark on the miniport. I have removed and attempted to install the miniport, but get a code for cannot start. I notice this RAS 720 has been around a long while, and cures often involved rarepair and a different procedure depending on the laptop, can anyone please help.

Anyone have any ideas, I contacted vodafone customer services again after trying the new dongle and they said they would get back to me, to date I have heard nothing from them.

At the moment I am paying for a service I can't get from Vodafone so I'm pretty fed up!

Hi Mystic,

It is indeed an old issue, and one I haven't seen for quite some time. Luckily we still have details of the fixes for this, so we should be able to get you up and running :)

For Toshiba laptops, the first recommend fix is to uninstall your LAN and Wireless adapters via Device Manager. Once they are all uninstalled, click on the button in the Device Manager toolbar for "Scan for Hardware Changes". It will then reinstall the adapters.

The next step is to make 2 to 3 attempts to dial-out using Vodafone Mobile Connect. Expect the first two attempts to fail or hang the computer for a moment - this is normal, as Windows will be re-binding the adapters to the network services. After this though, it should start working normally.

If all of this doesn't work, the final step is to use a tool called Rarepair, which you can download from here.

This is an automated program which will uninstall and rebuild all of your networking components, and should resolve any issues within the Windows services related to this error.

Please note that if your computer has previously been connected to a Wi-Fi network, both of the above methods will require you to re-enter the password or WEP/WAP key after completion.

Please let me know how you get on :)

I know this is an old post but I have just been experiencing the same issue. Everything worked fine until I upgraded AVG antivirus. I followed the various suggestions - uninstall, reinstall, reboot, etc - but nothing worked. Even reinstalled the older version of AVG.

I have Windows XP SP3, Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite 9.3.6.12095, and two dongles (contract and PAYG - both stopped working at the same time).

Then I looked at the networking properties of the Vodafone Mobile Connect device. On the Networking tab was a new 'AVG Network Filter driver'. I unticked this and Internet access was restored.

I guess other AV applications could add similar network filters.

Hope this works for a few frustrated people...
