I had discussions with on the subject of the toggle and they confirmed that the Networks have the input into the Carrier Files which controlled the feature.
If you look at it this way why would remove the ability to toggle off 3G to push the iPhone to 2G for people having call stability issues.
Not long ago when on a 3G tariff the toggle was there. When I upgraded to a 4G tariff it was closely followed by a Carrier Update which initially removed the toggle. After discussing with and the Network the toggle re appeared after a carrier update
sorry we digress a little from the original thread topic.
Jeff do you have the 3G toggle on your iPhone 6 plus ?

I can choose 2, 3 or 4G. It wasn't always the case - an update to iOS brought it back.
It's never bothered me but the network has always maintained that this was an Apple matter and nothing to do with them.

Fair enough - Thank you.
I think the main point made is that iOS is not held back thus not causing possible delays and more new versions of iOS are pushed out to older versions of iPhones , albeit some newer features will not always be supported to that of Android which for branded handsets can be held back and is a bit more fractured to what handsets are supported.

Well guys, I downloaded the firmware and Odin and backed up the phone. I did the update and I have to say.....it worked! The phone is now back to Kitkat 4.4.2 and by God its back to being excellent. Thanks a lot guys, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Only thing about it all, was as soon as I had finished, whilst logging back into all my accounts, the phone offered me lollipop back again! Nope, not for this cookie, not ever again

Hi,
Good to hear your getting a better user experience with your Samsung now.
Just a shame you had to revert back to a previous firmware.
