I can use my S6 Edge to connect to the internet using USB tethering, but when I configure it as a mobile hotspot, other devices cannot (or do not) see the S6 Edge over Wifi. I have reconfigured the APN to make sure I have the correct settings. Hotspot was working prior to update to Lolliop 5.1.1. Any ideas ? I'm at my wits end and really want mobile hotspot to work as it did previously. It's almost as if the Wifi transmitter isn't working when I use mobile hotsport (wifi is also working btw).
Thanks in advance for your help

Yes hotspot is visible to all devices.
If I do a factory reset, won't I have to set up all my apps, screen layout, contacts etc ? Surely I shouldn;t have to do this for a patch release of Lollipop ?
Thanks for your help

With any update, it is always best pratice to do a factory reset.
It will wipe all your data so yes, you will have to set up everything again. Your contacts should be backed up to Google and should automatically reinstall when you log into your Gmail account.

ok seems a bit radical. As I said usb tethering works ok, wifi works ok ..... just seems a bit weird that hotspot doesn't
I will perform a factory reset as a last resort. Any other ideas re what may be causing this before I take this drastic step ?
Thanks for your help. Appreciate it.

With any update, if there are any issues afterwards, it is best to perform a factory reset. This basically gives you a totally clean device to work with and it makes it easier to narrow down the issue.
There could be any number of things causing the issue from apps interfering to a hardware problem, to some random bit of old coding playing up.

Maybe another s6 edge user can see if this works for them.
I have checked and it is working fine on my device, but I did do a reset of it after I upgraded to 5.1.1
