Just updated my Xperia Z5 compact to Android 6.0 last night. Now the SD card will not be recognised at all by the phone. Have tried remoing an reinserting the card, restarting the phone but nothing seems to work. Can't reformat the card from my phone as the card isn't recognised in the first place.
Please can anyone help?

Hi
If a phone is glitching after a firmware update it's generally recommended to remove the Sd card and perform a back up to preserve any saved data in the phones storage and perform a factory reset from the phones settings.
Hopefully this will help.

But then when update the firmware won't the problem just start again?

A factory reset removes redundant files and refreshes it.
This is only needed if it glitches.
Can you also as a process of elimination try another SD card in your phone or try reformatting the SD card in another phone.

Hi, I have a similar problem, and need to use my phone to make calls urgently , but the touchscreen is un-responisive, and has a pop-up saying "Your device will now restart to be optimised for your service provider" However I cannot click "OK" to restart.
I have manually restarted several times, as well as turn off/on.
When I remove both SD card and sim card, I have access to my phone.
If I only removed SD card, then I get the messge as above.
Do you suggest I remove both SD and sim card, do a back up, and then hard reset again?

UPDATE: I've removed the sim card and kept the SD card in, and the phone is functional.
I don't think that this a firmware problem but sim card issue.
Thanks

SOLUTION/FIX
After backing everything up, I've figured out how to fix the issue without having to do a hard reset.
In settings, under Backup/reset, right at the bottom, above factory restor you'll see network reset, click on that, and things (witchcraft/magic) happens and everything fixes itself.
TL:DR no need to do factory reset, just network reset
