Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini with no SIM

I have a Galaxy S4 with no SIM

What is the cheapest way of getting it connected to work as a phone/Internet/E mail?

After connection what are the charges for Internet/E mail usage?

Hi @johnoooo

Freebies are a bundle purchased with PAYG credit, the difference is you get to keep the credit to use as you would like.

If you are going to be using email on the phone, you would probably be better off choosing a Data Freebee for your email use.  Without a data allowance, Vodafone will charge £2.00 per day out of bundle charges for your data access.

The other alternartive would be a Big Value Bundle where you receive a call, text and data allowance.

Hi @johnoooo

If you are only a light user, there is no reason for you having to purchase a monthly bundle.  PAYG credit does not expire and providing you keep the SIM active with regular chargeable activity, your top up will last a long time.

If you are going to consider purchasing a bundle, you would probably be better off with one of the Freebees where you get a data or calling allowance which lastsfor 30 days, plus get to keep the added credit to use as you wish.

If you look at the choice of Freebees below, you have quite a choice and you might as well have something for free to go with your top up.

There is further information of PAYG call charges below.

Hope the above helps answers your questions.

Ann, Sorry, Can't get this.
Are "Freebies" something differant to PAYG?
Can I send e mails wit PAYG?
How much does it cost to send E mail?
Hope you can help/advise

Just to add: bear in mind that there is (afaik) a daily charge for data use.   A smartphone will access small amounts of data all the time (unless you turn it off), so the charge will apply most days and eat your credit very quickly.  That's why a Big Value Bundle is a good idea if you have a smartphone.

If you turn mobile data off, you won't be able to use apps or send/receive email, but you can use wifi and that's surprisingly practical, given the proliferation of free hotspots - in urban areas at least.

Is this correct about a daily charge for data usage?

Also can you use wi - fi hotspots & not pay the daily charge?

I've got a lot to learn!

There's no charge for using wifi.

I'd suggest dropping into a Vodafone shop and getting them to discuss your requirements and explain your options.   A smartphone is a very steep learning curve and it's probably worthwhile starting off with a package that doesn't leave you with nasty surprises cost-wise.  You might find this post helpful, too.

You can use the phone as just a phone (ie calling and texting) with mobile data turned off, btw.
