Samsung Gear S2 classic 3G

I am looking to purchase a Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch with 3G.

Am I able to link this to my Vodafone monthly package with my Samsung S6 and use the Gear's messaging and wifi capability without having to have my S6 phone linked by bluetooth closeby?

No as far as I'm currently aware the watch has to sync with the phone.
