Hi,
I have an S7 which was working fine until a week ago. I put it on to charge and when I went back to it, it had a black screen. The message/charging light works and the lower lights work but nothing from the screen at all.
I have tried various ways to get my photos etc but no joy.
** Tried connecting to my laptop. The laptop recognises that an S7 is connected.
** Unlocked using Find My Phone and then went into Kies. Kies says it is still locked.
Is there any other way to recover my photos etc? I had taken everything else off around a month ago but sadly the most important photos are from about two days before it broke.
Thanks

Hi,
Have you tried turning it fully off and perform a reset using the keys.
"Hard reset Galaxy S7 or S7 edge using recovery mode
Power off your device.
Wait for a few seconds while your phone is shutting down.
Press and hold the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons simultaneously to get into Recovery mode. (read: how to get into Galaxy S7 or S7 edge recovery mode)
Use Volume keys to navigate and Power button to select an option in Recovery mode.
Once in, from the main menu, using Power key, select wipe data factory reset.
If you want to clear app data cache too, choose wipe cache partition. Clearing cache often fixes various software related issues.
When done, go back to main recovery menu.
Select reboot system now and that’s about it."
If that fails I would suggest visiting a Samsung Service Location
.

If Vodafone supplied the phone then alternatively they can send it off. Unfortunately they tend to Factory Reset the phones which will wipe it.
Regarding photos.
Did you definitely not have any alternative back ups to google drive , Dropbox etc or Sd Card.

Hi,
thanks for replying!
Tried to reset, nothing happens unfortunately.
I had everything on Google Photos. Well, everything showed on my Samsung anyway, yet when I go on the laptop, there are three random photos and nothing else?
I tried Aiseesoft Fonelab just there, it didn't work and now the lights won't come on :smileysad:

Hi,
yeah tried another charger as we all have Samsungs. It was charging but after using Fonelab, the light won't even come on.

Sorry that didn't help.
You could speak peak to Samsung via Twitter and or their Chat to see if they can advise further.
Do you have a Service Centre local or a Carphone Warehouse Store with a centre within it ?

Hi,
had a chat with Samsung but tried everything they said and nothing worked
Will need to pop up to the service centre, just that I was told they would wipe the phone first.
Do you know if using other software, such as Aiseesoft, will invalidate the Vodafone warranty? Thanks

That's a shame nothing helped.
I would suggest googling to see what Can trip Knox thus invalidating the Manufacturing Warranty.
I had to visit one recently and they were able to look at my phone without losing my data.

Seems like it will still be under the warranty - phew!
A shame they can't give you a copy, good to hear that you got yours fixed though
