This is the statement from Samsung.co.uk

HERE

It reads like this:

[ Support Alert ]UK statement regarding Galaxy Note7.

Sep 03, 2016

UK statement regarding Galaxy Note7.

“Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue.
“To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7.
For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks. For more information customers need to contact the customer service team on 0330 7261000.
We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause in the market but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible.”

Was give the complete run around and wasted over an hour. Received phone a few days ago. Was waiting till the weekend to set everything up.

I bought a case and screen protector from amazon which I am now out of pocket for.

Received today by text 9:12
We're sorry but Samsung have advised us of a delay to the availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Unfortunately this means your order will not be available today. You can find more updates on our eForum by visiting www.vodafone.uk/Note7 We'll be in contact soon with further information.

So phoned Samsung who didn't have a clue at first. I read the text message and announcement and told them to look at there own website where it was also announced on the UK site. Samsung told me to get in contact with Vodafone. The 1st phone call was shocking, do Vodafone actually communicate internally between departments ? In the end I just asked to return the handset and revert my contract back to sim only.

Just as I finished my message above. Received another text from Vodafone. What is going on I am lost ????

Samsung have advised us of a battery cell issue with the new Galaxy Note7. Although this fault only affects a small number of phones, Samsung will be providing a free of charge replacement service to all Galaxy Note7 customers. Please call Samsung on 0333 7261000 as soon as possible before continuing to use the phone. (standard call charges apply)

Hi atacam this is what I am talking about. This is a serious issue which could potentially cause users harm. Vodafone communication is shocking and Samsung are not helping helping matters.

@soupdragon do Call that number but when I spoke to that number ,they are the helpdesk which said Samsung is not recalling in UK. Also said that if I was concerned contact VF to get handset replaced.

Correct called the number earlier, they were not helpful. Told me to get in contact with Vodafone to replace.

I think the best thing to do is wait until tomorrow or Monday...?

I expect there is a delay in the messages being passed down to the call centres?

The message is on their own UK website so they must be doing the exchange?

I agree with you thesoupdragon I am sure there will be a response from vodafone soon. The recall is going to cost Samsung a lot. This is the only phone I have at the moment and don't want to be without a handset.

@noelsolutions

Unfortunately from what I've read, the process of replacement could take up to two weeks to complete. I'm not sure if this is from the date you send away or from the date Samsung receive the Phone?

You might want to look into getting a cheap backup phone or borrow one from a friend if you can?

Better to be forewarned though I suppose... :smileyembarrassed:
