Samsung is believed to expedite work on its next flagship smartphone the Galaxy S8.
The Korean tech giant is thought to be eager to ship the device much sooner than expected as it aims to recover from the disastrous launch of the Galaxy Note 7, which has been the subject of a global recall after the lithium-ion batteries in more than 30 devices were reported to have exploded or caught fire.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to feature a number of changes from its predecessor, the Galaxy S7.
The Galaxy S8 is reported to include a dual curved display across both models in its line up, instead of a regular standard flat panel screen.
For the previous two years, Samsung has released the regular Galaxy S, alongside a separate curved screen display, called the Galaxy Edge.
However, according to a reported in the Korea Herald, who quotes a well placed source at Samsung, the company is currently working on the next generation of its Galaxy S series, which will ONLY include a curved screen variant.
Samsung is expected the launch two models of the S8, one with a 5.1 inch display, alongside a larger 5.5 inch.
Samsung has reportedly codenamed the two devices Dream and Dream 2.
The South Korean tech company is also expected to radically overhaul the design of its upcoming smartphone.
It has been almost two years since Samsung updated the design of its flagship smartphone when it launched the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, before slightly refining the design with the release of the S7 and S7 Edge.
Samsung is also believed to be following the lead of its tech rival Apple, by dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack.
However, rather than replacing it with a USB-C port, as now seen on other Android devices, Samsung is set to develop its own proprietary port.
Traditionally Samsung officially launches its new smartphone at Mobile World Congress, which is held annually in March.
However, some analysts are predicting that Samsung will bring forward the release of the S8 by several months as it aims to restore consumer confidence following the recall of the Galaxy Note 7.
Meanwhile, Samsung Thailand has confirmed that its stock of the Galaxy Note 7 have been returned to South Korea and that all future models that will go on sale in Thailand will be from a new batch and not the from previously recalled devices.
