Setup Txt Message Not Recieved

BassAddict

Hi,
I've just tried to setup a new Huawei K3565 r2 pay as you go USB stick.
All the software seems to install ok, and the Mobile Connect software detects the Vodafone UK 3G network and the device itself, however, when I try to register so I can put some credit on it, I never recieve the txt message with the security code in the SMS software (or any alerts of new txts in the Mobile Connect software)
Unfortunately I've not got a mobile phone that I can put the SIM in to see if that then gets the security code.
Have now tried it on both a Vista laptop and an XP desktop with the same result on both.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi RichardK,

Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here :).

I can imagine this must be rather annoying especially if you're eager to topup, luckily you've come to the right place to help, I'm positive I can help you resolve this :).

It's possible that the message may be trying to get through to your SIM but is unable to do so, this can sometimes happen if the SIM card is not fully up to date on the network. A simple way of resolving this is as follows:

-Load the Vodafone Mobile Connect (VMC) Software
-Don't connect to the internet, instead click on View Devices
-Highlight the modem and then click Edit
-Click on the Network Preference tab
-Switch this to GPRS only
-Connect
-Access any website, wait for it to load and then disconnect
-Repeat the process but switching back to 3G preferred.

This will effectively force a SIM card update which may force the SMS to come through. If this fails then I'd recommend uninstalling the VMC software and then re-installing from scratch.

Let me know how you get on :), further help can be found on our Mobile Broadband Help thread, alternatively just ask and we'll be more than happy to lend a hand.
