Sim swap / upgrade

I have 3 different numbers on my contract. One of the numbers ie my sons phone needed a new sim as he had bought himself an iphone. So vodafone sent me a new sim for him.....(i stated which number i required the sim for) I have activated the sim and now he has my number and i have no signal on my phone as i assume it has been deactivated when my sons phone was activated. What can i do to sort this? I live on an island and a trip to a vodafone shop is totally out of the question. Vodafone chat say they have rectified the problem, but they haven't. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I appreciate you can't get to a shop although thst would be the cleanest option to help resolve this.

Although a sim swap usually completes in minutes very occasionally it can take up to 24 hours.

If this was my situation I'd ring Customer Services on 191.

Hi @muileach

If Vodafone sent you a replacement SIM to enable you to do a SIM swap for your Son's number, they would have sent you a plain blank numberless SIM, they can't send a SIM with an assigned number.  If you contacted Vodafone to do the SIM swap from your phone, the SIM would have been activated against your number.

The best way to sort this out is by asking Vodafone to send two plain blank SIM cards to replace the two numbers.

Vodafone may be reluctant to post two blank SIM cards, sending numberless SIM cards in the post can be a high fraud risk, but hopefully when they understand the problem, they will get the new SIM's sent.

There is further information for you below.

How do I transfer my Vodafone number to a new SIM?

SIM swap
