Smart N8 home and recent navigation buttons not working

As heading - the two buttons at the bottom of teh screen have stopped working. The return button is still working. How can I sort this out?

Hi - I have undertaken the factory reset and the phone appears to be working properly, although I did have to go back and remove the microphone permission for Google in App permissions. Have to see whether it carries on working....

There's something ticking away in the back of my mind that suggests I've seen issues caused by the Google microphone permission in some cases.

Hi - there is another thread on this issue on this phone - to get the microphone to work for calls, you have to disable the Google microphone permission.

Hi Natasha - thank you for that suggestion. Although I do appreciate it, I went to the Vodafone store in Solihull with a previous problem - referred to in one of these threads - microphone not working properly, and I have not seen quite such disinterest in any service industry, so I  doubt they will be of any help.
