I have a brand new Smart N8 phone. When I ring someone or they ring me, they cannot hear me, but I can hear them. The only way round this is to press the speaker icon on the call screen whilst the call is being made. Surely, the phone shouldn't be muted by default? Is there a way to change this?

Go to "App permissions" select "Microphone" turn off permission for "Google" I had the same problem and this fixed it. I've yet to find out what this does to Google, probably turned voice search off.

Thanks for that suggestion. I did a factory reset, which solved it.

I have the same problem too. Only got my phone last week and it took ages to get registred, then found it was defaulted to answerphone and just yesterday I found that it was mutedby default.
