Hi
a phones battery usually takes a few charges and dis charges to reach optimum output. This calibrates it by letting it discharge to around 10% and then fully charge.
Also make sure you close don open apps when not using them.

I have had my Smart Ultra 6 since July. I was pleased with the battery life only having to charge every other day. A couple of weeks ago it completely died having lost 30% in 1 hour. Plugging the charger in did not do anything. I took it to the Vodafone shop the following day and it came back to life on their charger. All was OK until I updated to 5.1.1. Now I struggle to get 24 hrs out of it. Today it was fully charged at 11am and it is predicted to be empty of charge at 6am tomorrow.
Any ideas? Problem with 5.1.1 or result of flat battery a couple of weeks ago?

Hi there
It could be either the battery or the update. Did you do a factory reset after performing the update? That would be a good place to start.
Do make sure you back up everything before doing the factory reset as the phone will be wiped.
Also, try not to let your battery run below 20% as it can cause long term damage. Modern batteries fare better if you charge them a bit more often and down allow the battery level to drop too low.

Thanks. I'll try a reset.
I usually keep the battery above 30% but that has been difficult recently as I would have to get up in the night to plug it in.

Does the handset have any integrated battery monitoring tools? If not, it may be worth while downloading a third party app such as GSam. You can use that to keep an eye on your battery usage and see which apps are using your battery up.

Further to your advice I carried out a re-set and then restored the Apps etc. Went to bed and the battery charge was 89%. This morning it had only dropped to 85%. RESULT!. Thanks for your assistance. Will perform a re-set after any future upgrades.
The handset has a fairly good battery monitor and had identified e-mail as the major battery user even when the phone was idle. This is not the case after the re-set.

I'm really glad to hear that. A reset after an update is always best practise.
When I find that my phone gets a bit laggy or the battery life isn't so great a factory reset sorts things out. It also forces me to make sure that everything is backed up and that I tidy up my phone and delete the old / unwanted stuff.
Enjoy your handset!

Take the phone into a Vodafone store to be looked at.
Vodafone apply a 24 month warranty excluding the iPhone which is 12.months. This does not cover accidental damage.
Not having the original headphones wouldn't be a factor.
