Hi
Howe recently up graded our broadband and since this time the sure signal has stopped working, no lights at all. I we reset the lights do flash etc so power is not the issue.
I also keep receiving texts saying we have moved the unit and need to update the postcode, though it hasn't in fact moved.
any suggestions?

Hi Lee and Jim
Right Jim, firstly it will not allow me to set the MTU above 1492 and second these are teh port settings:
TCP | 50 | 50 |
| |||||||||||||||||
UDP | 4500 | 4500 |
| |||||||||||||||||
UDP | 500 | 500 |
| |||||||||||||||||
UDP | 123 | 123 |
| |||||||||||||||||
TCP | 8 | 8 |
| |||||||||||||||||
Any | 1723 | 1723 |
Lee I tried the factory reset though all lights only flashed on briefly? both lights then flashed for a while, maybe 5 minutes and then stopped. Now back to a single red light

OK. What BT fibre hub type have you got. On the wan configuration there is a box called MTU and it lets you set it to 1500 (even though this is strictly not allowed on PPPoE type UK wan networks). It is possible you have a different type of BT fibre router to me.
If you set it to 1492, the SS cannot send what it thinks is "jumbo framed" packets and your BT fibre router will just reject them and you will get no connection.
Jim.

II'm on BT Business Hub 3, presumably the latest one. I can see the MTU setting field but if I try to set it above 1492 it simply gives me an error saying it must be between x and 1492.
I've made no progress at all and based on what you are saying I'm not going to?

Yep, I'm on BT Business Fibre Hub 3 as well and it lets me set an MTU of 1500. I'll have another look to see if you need to set another field as well.
But, if you cannot set an MTU of 1500, in my experience, the VSS will just not work. I used to be able to get round this by fragmenting packets but that was stopped on 17th Oct so it's back to an MTU of 1500 I'm afraid.
Jim.

Cheers Jim. I've just tried again to check and still the same error if I try to set it at 1500

Although im not on a buisness package, arent the hhb3's the same?, im on fttc and apart for the vss freezing on downloads on some days(all day) i seem to be working fine, i have found that you need to setup each peice of equipment separate though for some reason, start with openreach modem, reset hhb3 back to factory, then plug that in to modem, switch on, reset the vss and plug that in to the hhb3, should work on plugnplay, never had a problem with getting the vss setup, just have problems with what i think is the dns servers from bt keep freezing up the traffic.

Even if they are the same boe32 it is not simply a case of resetting to factory default. This is a business package and other parts of the business rely on different confirgurations - reset to get this working and I risk disabling another critical business application.
That said the only current customisation on this broadband is the port opening for VSS!

Nor quite sure why it wont let you setup the vss, all i can think that the buisness hub3 must be different, the hhb3 type A is definately allowing the vss to function. Maybe double check your setup?, make sure the cables in the right port, i made this mistake on first setup, its easly done, just check the cable on back of vss is in modem.

Business HUB 3 on BT Infinity.
Since the upgrade to my broadband I have not been able to get a signal on my VSS. I have correctly opened up the ports etc and have been advised top check whether VF tech support can see any activity on the ports?
I'm pretty much at my wits end with this one

Hi JonasBrown,
First off, it will have nothing to do with fibre. What's possible is that your IP address is now from a different range so it's worth posting it here so that the Vodafone tech guys can check that it's on the whitelist.
While you're at it, you may as well complete the whole picture:
VSS Traceroute command
Dealing with ports is too much trouble, I reckon. I just moved my VSS into the DMZ (most routers support this) which makes ports and connection of allowed addresses irrelevant.
HTH,
Peter
