Text Scam

IsabellaUK
1: Seeker

I've gotten a text from a application that I didn't subscribe to saying, "Thank you for subscribing to funny videos" and that I'll be charged £4.50 per week. I opted STOP and then got sent the same message again, which I once again opted STOP to. What's happened to my phone and how can I protect it for the future?

You should be able to find out the Premium Rate Merchant. company’s details possibly by > https://psauthority.org.uk/for-consumers/unexpected-phone-charge  and ask them directly to ask them to cancel the subscription. Unfortunately texting STOP can have the effect that they now know the number is Live.

Hi @IsabellaUK

There are restrictions bars you can enable immediately through your online account.  You have the charge to bill bar and other restriction bars available under bars.  Please see below.

How can I stop premium rate services being accessed from my phone?
