Hi @Rik500

If this was my phone I'd try......

  • Close down the App and clear its cookies and caches and then re launch it.
  • Check that no software updates are pending.
  • Try sending a plain shortish message with no emojis etc to different known contacts.
  • If on Payg make sure I have enough texts in my allowance or enough credit.
  • Look in Playstore for an alternative Texting App and try that.
  • Pop my SIM card in another phone as a process of elimination to rule out the phone or sim card that may be at issue.
  • As a last resort create a back up and factory reset.
  • Ask Customer Services on 191 or Live Chat to check my Account.
  • If ownership of the phone is under 30 days i.e. Cooling off period then look to having the phone swapped out if my SIM card worked Ok in another phone. If over 30 days then it would have to be sent off for a diagnostic a Vodafone Highstreet Store.

I hope this is resolved asap for you both.

Hi @Rik500

I suspect the reason for the application closing down is storage, the phone only has 4GB internal memory.  If your Son has an SD card, try changing the message storage to the SD card and see if this helps.

This can be done by going into your message settings and scrolling down to save to, this can be changed from internal storage to SD card.

Thought that would be the likely issue as soon as I read your suggestion!

All sorted.

Thank you everyone
