Tips for getting wifi calling to work (virgin media)

Hello,

Just thought I'd post this to help others in the same situation having issues with wifi calling. I was always able to enable wifi calling in the settings of my iPhone 6s Plus however it would only ever go onto wifi calling in the network bar at the top at my parents house (virgin) of any other network.

I set up my parents virgin super hub so figured it must be some settings stopping me from getting it to work....here's what I did to get it worming right away.

This should only apply if you're a tinkerer like me as I had previously disabled the superhub firewall

Sign in to your superhub admin interface (usually 192.168.0.1), select "advanced" then go to security > firewall. Re-enable the firewall on low and make sure you select the 3 VPN passthroufj options.

Hope this helps :Smiling:

Hi, I have tried this today & it isn't working at all for me. I don't get wifi calling at all at home which is what I am trying to do. I get it at my brothers & my brother is also on Virgin. He lives in Shropshire though, I am in Southend on Sea.

I get good network coverage at home, normally full bars. At my brothers I got 1 bar of network connection. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I tried your idea & nothing.

Wi-Fi calling is basically designed for users with no service. Therefore if there's coverage in your area, Wi-Fi calling won't be required so it won't automatically kick in.

Unfortunately there's no manual option to select it. It's a case that if it's required, it'll automatically be enabled and if there's already an adequate signal, it won't.

Oh right ok then, it's just with EE no matter what the signal is you get wifi calling come up anyway, I didn't realise it was different with Vodafone.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi. You can put your phone in airplane mode then put your WiFi on and WiFi calling should then work.
