Topup & Go USB Modem - K3565

Hi there,

I bought a pay-as-you-go USB modem which is a Huawei K3565 Rev 2 and I want to use it on my Linux machine.

Vodafone claim that this particular modem is not supported under Linux here (which I didn't check before I bought it !) however it doesn't mean that it won't work !

I run Ubuntu 10.04 and when I plugged the modem in it was recognised and it detected a Vodaphone network, however it will not connect to it. The problem is that the various settings are not correct (the default settings did not work). I know the problem is just the correct settings because I had a similar problem when trying to set-up a Virgin Mobile broadband account and all it needed was the correct password.

When I use the following settings ( discovered here ):

Number: *99#
Username: web
Password: web
APN: pp.vodafone.co.uk

it connects but then I get asked for a password. Obviously 'web' isn't it !

Can anyone help ?

By the way I'm in the Uk which obviously makes a difference regarding the APN

Thanks

Kerubu

Hi Kerubu,

Looks like you found your answer before I was able to get to you ;)

With regards to topping up under Linux, this is of course not possible. You will need to top-up using the normal methods, such as via our website or by calling Customer Services.
