Mobile Broadband - What is my nearest transmitter?

Hello,

I've used sitefinder to try to locate my nearest Vodafone transmitter but according to the map there are only O2, Orange and T-Mobile in my town. I know that O2 and Vodafone share some masts but can someone point me in the direction of my nearest mast please?

It's a 3G and in some cases HSDPA enabled area - can someone confirm that please? It's for both my mobile and for my mobile broadband.

My postcode is: IP24 3DS.

Is there anyway to boost my mobile broadband signal? I'm only using it in the short term until I move house and reconnect my landline ADSL.

Thanks people

Hi Ritch,

Your serving 3G cell site is located at Thetford Fire Station, Norwich Road, IP24 2AF.

I trust this helps :)

In terms of boosting signal, in the absence of a home broadband connection, I'm afraid there isn't a lot of options. Actual signal boosters are mostly illegal without a broadcast license (and can actually damage the mobile network if not used properly, by increasing the load on cell sites), however you may want to try something like a directional antenna to point at your serving site. Most of our modems have a small screw-hole for these hidden under the sticky label which you can use for this purpose :)

How did you find out where the transmitter was? You have secret radiowave powers don't you? Admit it!

I can't find it listed anywhere. Must be a good signal then, 'cos there are two O2 transmitters closer yet Vodafone signal is better.

My mobile broadband is a USB dongle, I assume short of waving it in the general direction of the fire station and hoping, there is nothing I can do, especially as the USB lead is only 2 and a half feet long?
