New user RAS 635 but SMS OK

Hi there

I'm a new user.

I'd appreciate any help on this problem.

I have installed VMC 9.4.6.20529 on a Samsung NC10 running Windows 7 Home premium with all updates.
I have an activated Top up and Go Mobile Broadband Sim (with credit) in an unlocked ZTE MF100 dongle.

I received the activation code sms when the dongle was plugged into the netbook yet when I try to connect for data, I get a RAS 635 error. I don't understand why I can get sms but not a connection.

I've uninstalled & reinstalled VMC, uninstalled & reinstalled modem drivers, deleted and reset up the conection.

I don't know what else to try. Does anyone have any ideas? The dongle works fine with other providers sims.

Thanks

Hello Colourqueen and welcome to the eForum :)

The 635 error is one of the more vague codes, but primarily revolve around being able to make an internet connection.

Please could you try a few tests as follows:

1. Put the Vodafone sim in a phone and try to connect to network.

2. Try to use the built in Modem if you were aware of it, the sim slot is located behind the battery.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not altogether sure what you mean.

When I put the card in a phone it comes up with the Vodafone UK newtwork.
If I try to dial a number it says no service. If I open the web browser it says GPRS Network is not available, Attempt Direct Data Call. If I say yes to that, I can hear the number not recognized tone.

As for using the builtin modem, I don't understand!

If I look online at my account, it says Plan name: TopUp and Go Mobile Broadband

Calling Credit: £15.98

Thanks
