Touchscreen not working

Hi i have a Vodafone 547 and the touchscreen does not work when the sim card is in but if i take the sim card out and turn it on the touchscreen works what is going on here ?

In the first instance, try a new SIM.   A Vodafone shop should be able to supply one and activate it if it's a contract one or transfer your number if it's PAYG.   A factory reset would be the other option - juist make sure your content is backed up first.
