Hi - I was wondering if I could get some assistance please.
I have BT Openzone allowance on my account and am trying to use an Asus Transformer Infinity Pad (Android OS) to connect, however the "My Vodafone" application on the Google Play website doesn't appear to be compatible with this device.
Is it possible to connect to BT Openzone without this application please and how if so how can I do so ?
I have also read that there are some Openzone hotspots which it is not possible to connect to as they are for BT customers only - can I ask how I can recognise the difference between both these types of connections ?
Thanks in advance.

Hello.
OK, so I'm applying what I know abotu a dongle and laptop setup here so I'm not 100% sure if this is completely applicable to yoru device.
There are a coupel of versions of the Asus Transformer Infinity Pad and not all of them have sim based connectivity (some are WiFi only). Which is yours?
The reason that I ask is that with the dongle/laptop setups there's a client built into the Vodafone mboile broadband software that uses information from your sim as your log in credentials for BTOpenzone access. So it may well be the case that if you haven't got a sim in your device this might explain why you can't get the myVodafoen app and I severley doubt you'll be able to authenticate against the BTOpenzone hotspot automatically. It will also probably mean that you'll have trouble connecting tot he hotspot as it won't know that you're a Vodafone customer as nothing on your device can be communicated to the hotspot to allow it to identify you as a Vodafone customer.
It's very maybe possible that you might be able to manually log in to the hotspot by manually providing the credentials that would normally be automatically passed to it by the app. I'm not sure what these details are, but I'd be giving my mobile number a try, and maybe my IMEI or IMSI (I use an HTC one X and these can be foudn under settings, about, phone identity) as these identify your device and your subscriber identity respectively.
You can usually tell which hotspots will work from their SSID. You need to be picking up a hotspot with a BTOpenzone SSID, BTFon hotspots won't work.
It might be worth trying to connect to the hotspot in question from a handset with the myVodafone app on it. If this works then you know that it can be connected to. Also the Opezone hotspot map in the myVodafone app will be a good indicator of where your nearest hotspot is.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info headcheese - the version of the Asus Infinity I have only has Wifi capability ....
After doing some research on the internet, it hasn't made itself very clear, but it appears as if Vodafone BTOpenzone customers can only use the access points/hotspots that have a Vodafone logo on them where you can sign in with your login credentials.
Unfortunately on my travels I haven't come across any yet - and I'm in Central London !
Thanks for responding
