Have used this dongle (prepay) with my netbook previously. Now have an Android Tablet. Can't get the Dongle to respond, and of course, the software won't load...how do I go about setting this up?
Have tried the APN setups, but this has had no effect. The tablet has 3G connectivity but I can't put a sim in, so am restricted to a usb port

The software and drivers only work with Windows and MAC so you won't be able to get the dongle working with the device directly.
If the tablet is 3G, then there should be somewhere to put a SIM, otherwise how would it be able to connect to mobile networks...
You can get devices that will broadcast the mobile broadband as a wireless hotspot, the R205 is a stand-alone device, and I think there is also a sharing dock, but it may be discontinued by now if it didn't take off too well.

thanks for the quick response. The tablet supports 3G but try as I may I can't find a slot for a sim card. I've looked at the mifi units but thye all cost c £50 and I still have £15 left on my dongle...didn't want to waste it. Bought a wifi router but this hasn't helped. Looks like I'm stuffed :smileysad:

If you can get the MiFi on it's own (sim free), then you can use your Dongle's SIM inside it and use the remaining credit.
Which tablet is it? The community may know where the SIM is hiding.

It's a Zenithink C93

thanks for that advice...I didn't realise you could get sim free mifis...not that they're much cheaper, but it would allow me to use my top up.

A quick google seems to show that some dongles do work with that tablet, but you would need to install some 3rd party apps to make it work, and there wasn't really a list of which dongles were supported or not.
If you are Andriod/Tech savvy and fancy poking around the android forums on how to get 3g dongles to work then you may have a nice little project on the go

but not the dongle I have....dongles seem to be old technology...forcing us into buying new....it worked fine with the netbook

I'm guessing your netbook was a Windows based OS, which would explained why it worked (the Vodafone software and K3565 drivers support Mac OS and Windows).
Now your using a different OS the software that you used on the netbook is no longer applciable, as grolshuk has quite rightly pointed out.
It might be worth reading this thread as the discussion goes into the nuances of using a USB modem with an android tablet.
Again as grolshuk points out it would be well worth considering a mobile WiFi device, such as the R205. WiFi is a standard, that pretty much all WiFi enabled devices adhere to, so not only woudl this resolve the problem you currently face, but it would also future proof you against issues shoudl you change the OS your running in the future.
