VEA and Negotiation

I was told at my local Vodafone shop that I could negotiate a deal with a telephone sales advisor and then apply the 20% VEA that I was eligible for. However, having been offered a deal on the phone, I was told this was not how it worked. They did kindly say I could upgrade earlier than my 75 days for free!

So should I hold out and try and negotiate once within my 75 final days, or will that negotiation still not get me more than 20% off the list price?

Your experiences appreciated!

Hi there

The VEA discount is only applicable on full priced contracts taken out directly through Vodafone.  It cannot be used on any plans where a discount has been applied or those taken out through third parties.

So, in short, if you negotiate a discount with an advisor, you cannot get your VEA discount off that price.

Hi,

I understand that. Based on your experience though, will I be able to negotiate a discount of more than 20%?

Thanks

There is no guarantee what discount you may be offered. This is very much down to what you negotiate.  Call up and ask the question, if you are happy with the price, go ahead and take out the plan.  If you aren't happy, you can say no and you still have your VEA discount to turn to.

Okay, I managed to get a 12.5% from negotiating, but I might be tempted by 20% now rather than waiting and renegotiating in a couple of weeks!

@thewizard53 If you like the non- VEA discount offered take it there and then as often when people go back to try and get the discount is is no longer available.

Max I've had was 45% discount and a sure signal box ( which I never actually got ) this was a sim only contract.

Current contract has vea discount.  Managed to get  a free phone and delivery  (6s 128gb) , 5gb extra data , 6 months early upgrade ( not holding my breath on this)  Netflix for 18 months.

Depending on on who rings you, a lot of extras can be thrown in.

Thanks for your advice guys. I think I'm going to try and get the early early upgrade with no fee, and some extra data because I'd really like the S7 sooner rather than later!

Hi @thewizard53

You may find a sweeter deal much nearer to your Contract End date - not early upgrade date by speaking to the Retentions Department via Customer Service on a Weekday via 191. I appreciate your focus is on the new phone. :Smiling:

If VEA isn't a deal breaker then have a look at the independents such as CPW. Just weight up that you'll be there customer using the Vodafone Network, no VEA, and features such as Calling Over Wifi.

Do lots of Homework and never jump at an offer unless your pretty sure that's going to be the best. Yes some offers are on the table for a limited time but there's always going to be deals. If you jump too fast then after 30 days Cooling Off your locked in for quite some time.

Enjoy the journey. :Winking_smiley:
