Last week I received an update from Vodaphone, so I complied and downloaded and installed it on my Vodaphone Smart Ultra 6. No problem... except that it stopped me from receiving emails on my Exchange account. I contacted Vodaphone who siad they'd heard that there might be an issue with the update and sync problems with Exchange. I was recommended to uninstall the Exchange account and then re-install it. That should do the trick they said.
However it will now NOT re-install!! (it goes as far as “Couldn’t finish. Can’t connect to server”)
I contacted Vodaphone again and asked for help. They responded by saying I needed to go back to factory settings. So backed everything up and did just that.
STILL no joy, and now of course I have the pleasure of having to re-set all my personal bits and pieces.
So...back to Vodaphone who now say it's not their problem at all and I will have to pay for an IT techie to sort it out. They refused to accept any responsibility for the fact that their update has caused me to lose my Exchange account.
Any help or advice gratefully received. At the moment I am considering closing all my company's Vodaphone accounts.
Not at all impressed with Vodaphone and have a mobile phone I cannot use for work emails.
Solved! Go to best answer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried via wifi as well.
However I have just had a thought and downloaded BlueMail and tried to connect through that. Gues what, it works!!
So if anyone else has this problem with a Vodaphone update blocking access to Exchange, try it via BlueMail.

Just a thought: can you reconnect to Exchange via wifi? If you can, I assume it would also work on an ongoing basis. If this is fine, and it stops working over a mobile connection, that pretty much points to the firmware, I'd have thought.
I also assume that this isn't somehow an APN issue? If other apps can connect, I'd have thought not.

Rather than VF blocking access to Exchange, I think it's far more likely to be a glitch with the stock email app - especially as you've found that an alternative works. If you want to go back to the stock one, watch out for further updates and try again. Some apps are updated via Google Play, but I'm not sure that Email is one of them.
I've marked this as solved in view of the fact that you have a successful workround.
Edited to add: both of the suggestions you were given (uninstall, factory reset) were good ones and would be the first thing to try. I've reported this so that the approriate people can take a look.

The app you should be using is the official Microsoft Outlook app. That is designed to look and feel like Outlook on your computer.
