Hi
Had a version 1 that has worked for years with no issues. The last month I've been unable to receive calls or texts on all 3 Vodafone phones at home. Turned the sure signal off and they start coming through again.
Does it need a firmware update?
Serial number 21227838089
Thanks

Hi Gshaw
I dont think you Sure Signal needs a firmware update as this is normaly done automaticaly and silently in the background. It sounds like for some reason it failed to synchronise so the location data for the connected devices was not being sent. This was preventing incoming calls and SMS from being routed to your handset. This can be caused by a number of things such as a temporary drop in internet connection. I would suggest that you perform a master reset by following the steps below and having one of the nice tech guys on here resync from thier end.
Master Reset.
Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried to do the steps you suggested but the lights don't go solid as per step 1. When I hold the reset button on the back, after about 30 seconds the lights cycle through and just the first light comes back on. Does this sound right?

Hi
yeah thats fine if they cycle through, the lights will either all stay on or cycle through. I have amended the steps to make it a little clearer
There are a few other small things you can do to fix your issue such as turning your phone off, placing it next to/on top of the VSS and then turning it back on or doing what Vodafone call a manual roam. This basicaly involves you going into your phones network settings and searching for available networks, select any network other than Vodafone, when it fails you then select VF again.
The final thing that you could do to force it is switch your phone to only connect to 3G, make an outbound call and then get someone to call you. Since the VSS only transmits in 3G and should be the strongest signal for you it will force you to connect to it. You can then switch the settings back to 2G/3G/4G connection.
Hope it works for you

Hi
thanks again but I tried all that and it's still the same issue.
Hopefully Vodafone will reply to me too at some point....

Hmm sorry none of that worked :smileysad:
It sounds like your VSS has failed or the power supply has. There have been multiple issues reported on here where replacing the power lead has fixed some odd issues so may be worth a try locating one on ebay etc before holding a VSS funeral :smileywink:
