Virginmedia Tfl - certificate error and error 1000 after login

I have been struggling to access the tube wifi for close to 6 months now. The error is persistent on two android based devices - samsung S7.

Error: first the device claims non-trusted certificate. After login with VF credentials reverted to the virgin page gives an error 1000.

What I have tried:
- CHANGED DEVICE
- account checked by VF team
- manually installed symantec CA G4 certificate; tested all below with and without the certificate
- ensured that enabled all cookies
- tested with embedded Samsung Internet, Chrome and Firefox
- deleted all cookies and user data
- login with wrong password provides error: wrong password. Only reverts to error page with error 1000 if password entered is correct
- different tube stations over several months

I filed a support ticket with virgin media but never got a response. Providing my phones Mac address magically made it work for a few days.

Hi @Goetz79,

I've sent you a private message with details on how we can get this looked into for you.

Thanks,

Sarah

Hi Sarah, I did as instructed. I got a response back that they don't have access to my account and to call 191 I spent hours with them on the phone already. The Login works on my iPhone but not on my android device, so it can't be the account itself...
