lea

i am using a vodafone k3565 mobile broadband dongle&the surfing/download speeds are virtually non exsistant, speeds of upto 3.6 mbs are supposed to be obtainable but i am lucky if i can download upto 4 kbs&wen im surfing it takes that long to go to the next page it either expires or i have to stop&try again,i am not extremely computer literate as i am a relative beginner,is 3G connection faster as my dongle connects by gprs if so do i after upgrade my payg contract(£15=3GB per mnth)or is there something i can do to speed things up cos it's getting nearly impossible&waste of time using it therefore rendering it useless,i would be grateful of any advice, thanks pru

Having the same issue on the forum.vodafone.co.uk site right now as well as google. Also I can't download large files. Oh and it won't let me on vpn and it's more than I was paying for pipex back in 1999 on dialup.

About as broadband as unlimited is unlimited.

FUN

Hi pru,

A warm welcome to the eForum!:)

I'm sorry to hear you are not enjoying your dongle, I'm happy to help you with this.

Firstly 3G is the optimal connection type, it downloads much quicker than GPRS and makes your experience sharper and quicker.

Do you notice the speed change when you are out and about or have you only tested this in your home? If so can you post your postcode and we can check your local coverage through our Coverage Map.

Thanks

Hi pru,

I'm really sorry to see your download speeds here. I've checked the local area for 3g coverage and to be honest, it's a bit patchy to say the least. The best coverage you're going to get at your postcode is outdoor variable, but 2g's great which I understand from your earlier posts is not very satisfactory.

I've gone ahead and checked for network upgrades and there's a site planned about 3 miles away just to the South of Barnsley, which I don't think will make any difference if I'm being perfectly honest.

Sorry,

hi leeh, thanks for your honest reply,i checked the coverage for my postcode from vodafones website,to say it is misleading in relation to the info you have told me is a understatement,3G coverage says GOOD&gprs VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT,where as my dongle confirms your findings, which have made my mind up where the dongle is going(in the bin),again leeh thanks for a speedy/honest reply, pru
