Vodafone Mobile Connect - I'm Unable To Install VMC As It Needs Admin Rights

I am attempting to install Vodafone Mobile Connect on my Windows XP Professional x64 SP2 laptop. I am a local administrator of my machine and in the Administrators group. However when I run the VMC installation program it says:

"Administrative priveleges are required in order to install Vodafone Mobile Connect. The installer will now exit."

I have tried creating a new account with admin rights (as suggested by support) but same thing happens.

Does anyone know what causes this message? Is there a specific additional right required?

Thanks
Graham

Hi Graham,

I'm afraid this is most likely to be a compatibility issue, as we do not support the 64-bit version of Windows XP.
We only support 64-bit on Vista or Windows 7.

Please see our ReadMe file for the full list of minimum requirements.

I did wonder whether that was the problem but the release notes do not specifically state 32-bit or 64-bit Windows XP as far as I can see. Also I had a very lengthy conversation with support a few months ago where I said I thought the problem was 64-bit XP but I was told this wasn't an issue!!

I will have to wait for my company to release a Windows 7 image so that I can use my 3G stick again. Unless there are any other suggestions...
