Vodafone PAYG Broadband Dongle with NO time limit

CupraR
4: Newbie

Hello.

Approximately two years ago I purchased a Vodafone Dongle to be able to go onto the internet via my Laptop on the few occasions I am away from my Home Router.

It was purchased from Argos and for £15 I got 3GB of Data, which didn't run out except for a time limit of 270days.

I have now gone to top it up and I see a message I'll only get 1GB for £15???

What's going on, have I read the wrong thing?? Certainly hope so, I have had no literature from Vodafone with regards this.

Please put me out of my misery!!!

Cheers Dave.

Still in the same boat though and unsure exactly what I will and what I won't and how long or how little a top up will now last. Guess I'll have to try it and find out.

Still can't get Content Control removed though, whenever I try via the website an error repeatedly comes up.

Thanks again

Hi Cupra R,

To be honest with you the old Dongle set up shouldn’t have changed and when you top up you should still get the same 3GB limit.

I’m afraid that the only way to see if this has some how changed will be to top up and see what allocation you are given.

If you only get the 1GB allowance please let us know.

James

Thanks James.

I'll top it up tonight and let you know.

Will I actually be able to see an allowance in GB? I know when I click "Get my Balance" it seems to only be in monetary form.

James. As I clicked through the options a pop up box did appear saying £15 Dongle only, 3GB. But also said it lasted only 30 days.

At this point I stopped progressing to topup.

Can you just confirm that it will still last 270days as it did before?

Cheers.

Hi there CupraR,

The new dongle's credit will expire after 30 days.

The 270 days referred to is the time it will take before the number associated with the dongle to go into quarantine before the number is recycled.

I trust this helpS explain the situation.

Cheers,

Lee

Hi lee.

It's not a "new" dongle though. I've had it approx 2 yrs.

So can I top it up with £15 and get 3GB worth of Data that will run out if I don't use it before 270 days expires?

Just re-read the above post and it doesn't really make sense.

Lee are you saying the terms of the agreement for my Dongle have changed then? I purchased this ages ago and the only time limit on it was the 270days. ie I could make a £15 top up last me 270 days as I don't use it much.

I did notice not long after buying it Vodafone stopped selling my particular Dongle on the PAYG plan I got.

I have never heard of a 270 day limit. The only payg plans that I'm aware of are 2gb in 30 days(used to be 3gb), £5 for 250mb or an older one which was £15 for 1gb but with no time limit. If a sim isn't used for about 6 months, the number is usually recycled and credit is lost. One of the moderators should be able to tell you which plan your on.

Yes, the older one you speak of is the one that maybe I got (but definately got 3GB for £15). Good deal I thought, which is probably why it was pulled not long after.

When I have said 270 days I mean that If I have not used the number for this period then it may get recycled.

Hi CupraR,

With the PAYG dongles, there is no contract commitment, so the available top-up propositions are subject to change. As such, there is no requirement to notify customers of changes to the availabe top-ups as you are not tied to any commitment period.

Whilst it is possible that top ups on an old dongle will not expire after 30 days, the allowances available and the cost of these is the same for all customers.
