Today I received a new Vodafone Smart Tab Prime 7 Tablet.
I opened Google Docs to try dictating to a new doc and the microphone shows but remains turned off.
I am sure it is something really simple but I have no idea. Tapping the icon does nothing at all.
I have looked in settings and can't see anywhere to turn on voice to text. Searching online I find instructions for Android phones but not tablets. Those say go to settings, language and input and turn on the option but the option is just not there.
Please can someone point me in the right direction.

I have found the answer.
Go to settings > Language & Input > Keyboard > then turn on the voice to text keyboard as well as the Android keyboard.
Works like a dream.

Hi @rwhitetlc
Does voice to text work in any other feature in the device at all ?
I've taken a look at online manuals and as of yet am unable to find something relevant to the settings. Link to one manual is > Vodafone-Tab-Prime-7.
I note you've posted elsewhere and the advice is "If it's brand new and doesn't work, return it."
What i would suggest if local and convenient would be to pop into a Vodafone Highstreet Store for the staff to take a look and help.

Thank you for trying I appreciate that. Yes I did try posting on another tech support forum and got the silly advice to return it. I say silly as the problem is not the tablet but my lack of knowledge. I was hoping that someone on the Vodafone Forum would have one of these themselves or that a member of the Forum team would respond and therefore be able to save me a 20 mile trip to the local shop but if nothing comes up by Tuesday I will simply have to drive there.
Again thanks for trying.

Thanks. Hopefully the forum tech team will see this and respond. Over the years they have helped me with other problems and always gave good support.
