Hi,
A Factory Reset or Hard Reset may help. >
Before you try the factory reset or hard reset on your device, make sure that you have backup your important files. Restoring the default settings or factory reset your device will delete all your existing files and will go back to its initial state.
Factory Reset:
>>> On your device touch on Home.
>>> Go to Menu, then Settings.
>>> Select on Backup & Reset.
>>> Choose Factory data reset.
>>> Touch on Reset phone. If you also want to remove all data saved to an installed micro SD, just tick the Erase SD card check box before touching Reset phone.
>>> And lastly touch on Erase everything and just follow the prompt to complete the factory reset.
Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your phone again after the reset.
Hard Reset:
>>> Turn off your phone.
>>> Press and hold together Volume Up + Power button for a few seconds.
>>> Once Recovery menu appears on the screen, release the buttons.
>>> Select "wipe data/factory reset" by using Volume buttons, and Power button to confirm.
>>> Then choose "Yes -- delete all user data".
>>> Confirm operation "reboot system now".

If these do not help then you may need to visit a Vodafone Highstreet Store for help. They may need to send it away to their repair centre.

I am unable to get into the phone to do a soft reset, and i have tried doing a hard reset, including wiping the cache and all other data, it still has the same issue

Ah ok.
The Hard Reset route would be the avenue to use if a person can't access the phones menu.
Looks like you may need to visit a Vodafone Highstreet Store if no other member has alternative ideas like hooking up to a piece of software such as Odin etc.
Do you have any ideas Tim ?

Thank you @thesoupdragon
Appreciate your time.
Sounds like my initial thoughts to get the phone sent off is a sound one. @thesoupdragon Certainly knows his stuff.
Tip,
Take Time / Date stamped pictures of the device to show the condition you sent it back in and one of it turned on. Ensure the Vodafone rep notes its condition on their systems.
"Also make sure when sending your device for repair that you keep hold of your SIM. You also shouldn't send your memory cards, battery and/or back cover (if they're removable) - if these are included with your phone when it goes for repair we can't guarantee their return."

And the moral of this story is: always have your phone plugged in when you update. The process is quite lengthy and very intensive. There's no way of monitoring the power level during it.
