Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 wont tether after software upgrade to fix bluetooth problem

Since upgrading to Android 5.1.1 two weeks ago I can no longer use the phone for teathering using either the WI-FI hotspot ot the USB cable. Both connection are active but wont allow access to the internet.

Has anyone else found this problem ?

sometimes if the phone is not working properly after a firmware update its recommended to perform a back up and then process a Factory Reset.
