Vodafone Updates Error

Hello.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 which also comes with the Vodafone Updates built in.

However, almost 2-3 times every day when using a certain app, I get an error message that says 'Unfortunately Vodafone Updates has stopped'.

Do you know if there is a fix for this as the last thing I want to do is uninstall the Updates app.

I'm not aware of any new updates at present. I'd recommend trying the steps hrym has provided above.

I assume you've updated from the original firmware?   Did you do a factory reset after this?  Particularly on Samsung devices some files can be left over from the old version and a reset clears the cache and loads the new system fresh.  Make sure you back up your content (music, photos etc) first - your contacts should be OK as logn as they're sync'd to Google.  Resetting cures most post-update issues.  If it doesn't, go to Manage Apps and clear the cache for Vodafone Updates and see if that helps.  In fact, you could even try that first, though I'd still ercommend the reset.

Many thanks. I have cleared the cache for Vodafone updates and that seems to have worked and I am not receiving the error message any more. How do I prevent future Vodafone updates causing the problem again?

Dissable the App

This means removeing the updates in app manager

But if Vodafone have removed the disable feeture which there not alowd to do under Androids Rules then the only option is to De Brand but Vodafone have made this very hard to do (Supprise supprise)

it can be done but you need to no what your doing i removed mine ages ago as i had herd they were going to make things hard to debrand.

Buying from a Any Network carriese Risks of Bloatware and on previous phones its been shocking

But Now were getting There own apps causeing issues this is not Good

If you want a Phone that has no branding on then you need to buy from a independent store this are direct from the manufacture.

Vodafone need to make these apps on the Playstore as a download so IF customers want them they can down load them or remove them.

Vodafone would sell more phones if they did this

Hi guys.

I hope you're all well and I'm sorry I haven't been active on here that much.

Well first off, I can confirm that the update for Vodafone Updates and Vodafone Discover went smoothly so thanks for that.

I also decided to buy a brand new HTC One on eBay (still sealed) which was an unwanted upgrade on Vodafone (which was handy) and I decided to sell my Samsung Galaxy S4 to Fonebank who gave me £270 for it.

I have to say that the Galaxy S4 was the worst phone I've ever used. The bloatware, gimmicks and lag was just... awful. The HTC One is so fast and smooth and so far I haven't received the dreaded 'Unfortunately Vodafone Updates has stopped' error.

Anyway, thanks guys and hopefully now this is the end to what has been a complete nightmare.

Ok, got tired of the issue caused by faulty Vodafone apps making the phone crash. So I flashed a clean ROM which doesn't have any Vodafone apps and voila! No crashing, about 30% increase in battery life, and no more frustrations! Ah, what a great feeling. Now I have a phone which is exactly how it was intended to be. 🙂 oh, and I have the latest version of Android to boot.
