Vodafone saying iPhone blacklisted but its not!!

Hi All

I have an Ex O2 phone that was on contract with O2 until about a month ago and I had it unlatched from O2 so my lad could use it with his Vodafone account.

The unlatch definately worked as if I put an EE Sim in, all works fine.  (it also works fine on O2 still)

The problem is if I try any Vodafone SIM it gets NO SERVICE, and within the network setting I can see it says NOT ALLOWED.

Vodafone initially told me that the phone wasnt blacklisted but then checked another system and did say he can see a Blacklist but that I need to contact O2.

O2 say there is definately no blacklist on the phone, although back in 2016 it was blacklisted by mistake for about an hour as the wrong phone was reported stolen, but that blacklist was removed very quickly.

So the result is that both O2 and Vodafone are saying there is nothing they can do, and I have even checked a few online checkers, a few free and one paid, and they all say its not blacklisted!!

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Hi @wayneataylor

If the SIM's are saying no service, it generally means the SIM has not been activated on the network. If this is a PAYG SIM, it would need to be active on the network preferably with a small amount of credit.

The first thing to do is to try the Vodafone SIM in an alternative phone and see if it allows you to connect to the network.  If you do not have an alternative phone to try, an advisor fom a Vodafone Store will be happy to let you use a store phone.

It would also be worth checking the network from the Coverage Checker at the top of the page for signal at the location.

Hi @wayneataylor

You can check the phones status too via checkmend.

Current Phone  >

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

Thanks @

I did try that and it's showing clear, apart from a marker of "EVER BLOCKED" which was the wrong one a year ago, so unless thats the problem!

Anyone know what test Vodafone would have done that shows the blacklist?

Wayne

You're welcome.

I assume they use something like checkmend too although due to security protocols I wouldn't think they'd divulge their process.

I haven't looked but there maybe a way to liaise with checkmend to inform.them the status isn't quite correct and is causing current issues or inform.the network of the issue this is now causing you.

Thanks for the reply, I forgot to say  that the Vodafone SIM works fine in another unlocked phone.

In fact I have tried a couple of known working Vodafone SIMs and get the same problem..

thanks
