Vodaphone Smart Prime 6 battery drain?

Hi everyone,

Few days ago I bought a vodaphane Smart Prime 6 and the phone drains its battery when the screen is off( on standbyy or double tap to activate). The phone in standby drains within 24hours and when using the phone, i loose 1% every 10 minutes if lucky.

I could not find much about the phone online having this problme but a phone should last a few days on standby and not drain so quickly. Having looked its apparently a android lolipop problem but I have no clue how to fix it as I am not really and android person. I bought this phone for one of my parents, my own personal phone is over 6 years old.

I am not sure if i should send it back to get a refudn or repalcement, the only issue I like the phone and its cheap but I bought a unlock code of ebay for this and I would have to buy another if I got a replacement. So ideally would prefer to fix this phone somehow.

Thanks you for looking.

You should certainly get this looked at.  There are various things that can cause battery drain, but the only one that should/might cause it out of the box would be a weak mobile signal that would cause the device to be continually searching and boosting the radio.   Things like the screen and so on should be covered by the default settings.

I'm not sure whether the warranty would still apply if you've used an unofficial unlock code, or whether this could itself be the cause of the problem, but it's worth asking.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, the battery drain was there before I applied the unlock code and very unlieky a code could cause a battery drain unless vodaphone are up to some trickery. Also a unlock code is a unlock code, there is no such thing as official or not unless its a hack by jailbreaking the device first which I have not done. But to emphasise, the drain was unfortunately apprently within 7-8 hours of after powering on the device and it would mean that I must purchase another unlock code.

My singal is about 70-80% in stregth if i had to approximate according to the singnal meter indicator on android.

Having looked at the android 5.0.2 threds there are serious power drain issues with that verision of android. I even enabled battery saver mode and its not done much.

I wil send this back for another try and if it does not work then I will just refund it.

No, I can't immediately see why an unlock would cause battery drian, though I have heard of unofficial ones not surviving a reset or an OS update, so it's possible they work differently.

If the problem was there before the unlock, though, it's unlikely to be that.  Definitely get it looked at.   There have been reports of battery drain, but there doesn't seem to be anything consistent and a lot of them are probably unrelated and have different causes.

Hi, do you have many apps installed? Apps running in the background can also have a serious effect on battery life.

Hi

the phone is standards in respect to what it came out of the box. I have not downloaded anything on the phone. I was going to originally buy one of these  chinese phones but though i won risk it because of how buggy these are out the box so I decided to buy vodaphone but having had a more deeper look at the reviews, the phone is quite buggy. Dont ever listen to youtube video rivews they are terrible and inaccurate and mostly dont by people who do not have the expereince.

I realy though this was hedging my bets and the phone would just work straight out the box. I HATE having to fiddle for hours apon hours on forum to try and find fixes for thigns, that is vodaphones job not mine.

Thank for all your inputs, I appreciate your help on the matter.

Anything should work straight out of the box and certainly shouldn't require adjustment to get it to do so - other than to set it up for your personal preferences.   If the phone has always been like this, I wouldn't mess about with trying to fix it yourself, but look at getting it repaired or replaced.
