WIFI abroad

HI

As a family, we are going to Belgium in August.

We have a Samsung Note 2 and  Galaxy S3 and we will be covered by the Vodafone Euro Traveller.

However we have a Toshiba laptop with inbuilt wifi card and a Galaxy Note 8 Tablet.

Problem is, that the apartment where we will be staying, does not have broadband, so we cant use wifi in the apartment.

Is there any other way we can get wifi whilst staying at the apartment.

Many thanks for any bright ideas. 🙂

Does the Note2 (or even the S3 for that matter) have a Mobile HotSpot feature that you can activate and then connect the wifi only devices to?

Not sure. Will have to look into that. What is that called so I can google for instructions for each phone?

Answer Yes they do. and I have found videos how to do it. Thanks very much for the tip.

No worries :Smiling:

You may want to look at your data allowance on the mobile to check there is enough to cover 3 internet connections.

And also test it at home before you leave in case it is not set up right :Smiling:

I am in France with a Galaxy S3 +Vodaphone Eurotraveller. Where I am I have wifi connection but no phone signal. Should I not be able to make calls? The phone keeps telling me I can't. Something must be set wrong, but what?

If you have no phone signal then you won't be able to make/recieve normal calls/texts regardless of whether you have a wifi signal.  However, if you have a wifi signal then you could use such things as Skype to make "calls", providing the person you are calling has Skype.

No signal = no calls, unless you are using Skype or a similar app over WiFi.  I would be more interested in seeing if we can help get your signal problem sorted out.  Have you tried to manually select a network, if so, do you get any error messages?  Is roaming active on your account?  You can check this by signing into your online account, clicking on the Manage my settings link and then on the next screen scroll down and you'll see the Roaming option.  This should be showing as "ON" - if not, just change it.
