Wifi Calling

I have three iPhones on a Red+ bunde with Vodafone for my business. All three phones were purchased from the Apple Store, this is something that we have always done as we have a business account with Apple, so I am on a sim only deal with Vodafone, but still spend in excess of £50 per month depending on usage. All three iPhones are capable of WiFi calling.

I had WiFi calling when I was with EE but have not bothered to look at swithching it on, until last week, when I knew I would be staying in a remote area with no signal but good WiFi. As the Managing Director of a business it is important I remain in contact with my office and my clients.

I originally spoke to live chat last week, who said that WiFi calling would be switched on within the hour. When this didn't happen I rang Vodafone and asked why this has not been activated. I was then told that this was not available to customers who had not purchased their phones from Vodafone.

I am of course very unhappy about this and would like confirmation from someone that the last person I spoke to was correct. I am out of contract with Vodafone and would like to know, as if it is not available I will change providers.

Hi

Please see the information in Vodafones official page.

Vodafone Calling over wifi.

It states.

"To take advantage of Wi-Fi Calling, you need:

A Pay monthly Red or Red Value Bundle, Red+ or Business Premier*

A compatible device:

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus or iPhone SE.

A Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016), S6, S6 edge, S7, S7 edge or Note 7 bought directly from Vodafone at one of our stores, online or by phone through our customer services team"

Its the Samsung phones that have to be sourced directly from Vodafone not iPhones.

Do you have those specific models of iPhone ?

Hi

Thanks for your answer, that is perfectly clear.

I now realise that it is only available on 6S and later models and this is not mine as I have an iPhone 6.

Its a shame someone at Vodafone couldn't explain this to me.

Thanks again.

The above isn't true, i've just called VF to activate wifi calling on my IP7 & been told that as i didn't buy it direct from them they are unable to activate it. The reason? The phone may not be compaitble! I've never heard such B.S. in my life.

I can't see the reason for not activating if the phone isn't purchased direct, apart from to agrivate those customers who purchase thier phones elsewhere. Given i'm spending £50+ per month i can't see how this is an issue.

I have three sim only numbers on the account and we have an iPhone 5S, 6 and 7. Wifi calling activated no problem on the 7. I am picking up my iPhone 7 tomorrow so will put the sim in this and see if wifi calling works. I will post an update
