Wifi calling

Hello everyone, new the forum, hope someone can help with the following question I need to know if the Samsung galaxy Edge Plus is wifi calling compatible? I am thinking of purchasing a preowned handset that is perhaps just a few months old(I was thinking of buying one that is locked to vodafone) I have spoken with vodafone over the phone a couple of times with great fustration and they say that the s6Edge Plus is not covered by wifi calling(only s6 & s6 edge are). I paid a visit to Vodafone Inverness shop for additional advice, the guy in the store was helpfull and told me to call back in the afternoon as the guy from samsung will be around demonstrating samsung handsets & is very clued up. I called back and spoke with him, he said that the s6, s6 edge, s6 edge Plus and s7`s all support wifi calling. he said the wifi calling gets activated by your vodafone contract sim and will take around a day for the wifi calling feature to show up on your device(on the assumption that you have wifi calling enabled on your plan). None of this seem to make any sense as It says on vodafone website that only `special` s6 and s6edge only purchased from vodafone will work? surely if what the samsung guy is saying is true, I could purchase a hadset from anywhere(unlocked) and just pop my vodafone contract sim in(which is wifi calling enabled) an away I go? I am sorry to ramble on but nobody seems to have a solid answer to my question anywhere, so I thought this was the best place to go for help. regards, Matt

Lots of handsets are capable of Wi Fi calling but that doesn't mean to say that Vodafone's version is compatible with all of those phones.

The Edge + does not have Wi Fi calling on Vodafone. Nor does the S7.

Hi,

I like to keep an eye on Vodafones Calling over wifi

Current Phone  >

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

Do you think I will be safe enough buying a s6 or s6Edge secondhand(was thinking of somebodys unwanted upgrade from vodafone) for the wifi calling feature to work? or could vodafone be funny about this as it`s technically been registred to somebody else? I understand the risk of course that the hadset could have a fault but if I try to by a sealed box model I think it will be worth the risk. cheers, Matt

As long as the phone was originally supplied by Vodafone and is running a Vodafone rom and you are on the right type of tariff you should be ok.

However, remember that all contract phones remain the property of the network for the first six months and anyone selling such a phone doesn't have the right to do so.

Thankyou, I never thought of that.

I can`t hit the `like` button as it comes up with an error saying I need Javascript enabled. So thanks everyone for all your advice 🙂

I would be worried abould buying a handset that is 6 months+ in age as I have a feeling the wifi calling only got rolled out on s6 handsets from September 2015 onwards, I could be stuck with a non complient handset I guess.

The age of the S6 won't affect it's ability to take advantage of Wi Fi calling. All S6's supplied by Vodafone running Vodafone software will be able to use the feature.
