You can certainly use WiFi on PAYT. Since you are not connecting to the network there would be no charge, you could even connect to WiFi without the SIM card in your phone !

There should be a Wlan wizard on your handset, if you click on that, it will search for any public networks that are available, when one comes up, just click on connect and the WiFi symbol will come up on your handset.

You can also connect to your home broadband, but you will need to enter the key number.

You will be able to find all the information in your instruction handbook which would have come with the phone.

If you have a Google around, you will find some WiFi hotspots, Mc Donalds is a well known one.

Hi Gus,

WLAN or Wi-Fi as it is better known, does not use the mobile network at all, so it doesn't matter if you are on Pay-as-you-Talk or Contract. The only thing you need is a Wi-Fi enabled device. So long as the device supports it, it will allow you to connect to whatever networks are within range.

I'm afraid we do not keep a list of Hotspots, as we are not a Wi-Fi provider. You may want to read up on services such as BT Openzone or The Cloud for a list of publically available hotspots
